Using your energy in business: lessons from my Manifestor energy

Your business, your rules

Ever feel like traditional business advice just doesn't work for you? Maybe you've tried all the strategies - the content calendars, the structured workdays, the consistency hacks - only to find they drain you instead of fuelling your success.

Not every business strategy works for everyone.

The key to building a sustainable, thriving business is working with your energy, not against it.

I know this first-hand.

When I discovered I was a 6/2 Manifestor in Human Design, it explained how I work best. My energy comes in big bursts - I get an idea, make it happen, and then I need time to recharge before the next big thing.

Trying to force myself into a system of daily engagement and rigid consistency? It was exhausting and ultimately unsustainable.

You don't have to be a Manifestor to benefit from these lessons. Learning to work with your natural energy - rather than trying to follow someone else's blueprint - can help anyone build a business that feels good to run.

What is Manifestor energy, and what can we learn from it?

Manifestors (in Human Design) are the initiators, the fire-starters, the ones who don't wait for permission. We move quickly, think big, and thrive when we can do something.

Even if you're not a Manifestor, these lessons are valuable. It’s about understanding how your best ideas come to you, how you work best, and how you can stop trying to fit into a formula that wasn’t designed for you.

If you’ve ever struggled with consistency, dreaded “niching down,” or felt suffocated by business models that require non-stop output, here’s what you can take from how Manifestors operate - and how you can apply it to your business.

The myths keeping you stuck

Here are a few outdated business “truths” that simply don’t work for everyone:

❌ You have to be consistent to succeed.

Reality: Some people thrive on daily routines, but others work best in bursts of potent energy followed by rest.

If that’s you, instead of forcing yourself into a content hamster wheel, create when inspiration strikes and set up systems that keep that work working for you while you recharge.

❌ You should follow a proven formula.

Reality: What works for others might feel suffocating for you. Your biggest business wins will come when you trust yourself and your ideas - even if they don’t follow conventional wisdom.

Some people need structure, while others thrive with flexibility. Figure out which one you are.

❌ You need to engage all the time to attract clients.

Reality: You don’t need to be constantly on to be magnetic. Your impact comes from your bold moves and how you show up with certainty - not from responding to every comment within five minutes.

How to work with (not against) your energy

Embrace your creative spurts

Trust your natural workflow instead of forcing yourself into a rigid work schedule.

When an idea hits, go all in - batch create, launch, and ride that momentum.

Then rest without guilt.

If your energy comes in waves, ride them instead of resisting them.

Communicate, don't assume

Keeping your audience or team informed is key if you move fast and pivot often.

Instead of assuming people will understand your vision, take a moment to explain what you're doing - whether it's with your team, clients, or audience.

It keeps things running smoothly and stops people from feeling left behind.

Simplify and automate

If your energy is inconsistent, set up systems that keep your work going without you constantly showing up.

Think evergreen content, automated funnels, and offers that don’t require non-stop delivery.

Prioritise rest like it's your job

Pushing through burnout isn’t a badge of honour - it’s a business killer.

Everyone benefits from rest, but if you thrive on bursts of high-energy work, you need space to recharge, process, and regain inspiration.

Taking time off isn’t slacking; it’s how you keep your best ideas flowing.

How I learned to work with my energy

For years, I tried to follow the "business rules" that worked for others: show up every day, post consistently, and stick to one niche.

However, these rules never worked for me.

I'd invest heavily in an idea, bring it to life, and then feel completely drained - like I'd just run a marathon without a recovery plan.

Then I discovered Human Design, and everything clicked.

As a Manifestor, my energy works in waves. I'm here to initiate, not to sustain.

Everything shifted the moment I permitted myself to work in alignment with that - batching content, launching when I felt the urge, and resting in between.

My business became more effortless.

More fun.

More me.

The best part? You don't have to be a Manifestor to benefit from this. Anyone can build a business that works with their energy instead of against it.

Everyone has a way of working that feels natural to them.

The trick is to determine what that means for you and then structure your business to support it.

Building a business that supports your energy

Your business shouldn't be an energy drain but a reflection of how you work best. Instead of forcing yourself into someone else’s strategy, ask yourself:

  • What kind of work excites me?

  • How do I create the most impact with the least resistance?

  • What systems can I implement to support my energy, not drain it?

No matter your energy type, success won’t come from trying to fit in. It’ll come from trusting that your way is the way.
